The roll out of Mental Health Allies across HMPPS is one of our key wellbeing priorities. Mental Health Allies are a staff led programme, who listen, empathise and signpost colleagues to professional support. They also raise awareness of, and challenge and reduce the stigma associated with, mental ill health.
Below you will find the training materials for the Mental Health Allies Training. The training is structured in three parts as set out below.
Part One
Pre-workshop material – this consists of the completion of a workbook where you will be asked to read material; reflect; complete short questions and activities; review training videos and note down your own thoughts and actions. This will be completed individually in advance of part two.
Expected Duration – 2 hours
Part Two
Virtual Workshop and associated materials – this consists of a remote group delivery which will be facilitated by a Workshop Lead from PAM Group or from within the Mental Health Allies Programme. Here, you will meet virtually with other Mental Health Allies from across the Programme to complete short case studies in small groups and reflect on what you’ve learnt so far. You’ll also become aware of ‘What is Next’ on your Mental Health Ally journey. This workshop will be delivered via Teams or associated Teams dial in facility. The invitation and joining instructions to your specific workshop will be emailed to you separately.
Please ensure you print off a copy of the materials and slide deck in advance of the workshop as direct reference will be made to both throughout.
Expected Duration 3 hours.
Part Three
Post Workshop material containing useful guidance and information on next steps in your role as a Mental Health Ally.
We would recommend you print off all the materials in advance, if possible, or have the information to hand electronically. You will need to have access to the material in part two throughout the session as this will be referred to.
